The purpose of the training is to prepare employees who may work in any area which is large enough and so configured that an employee can bodily enter and perform work, and has limited or restricted means of entry or exit, and is not designed for continuous human occupancy.
To successfully complete this course, participants must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following elements:
- Recognition of confined spaces
- Hazardous atmospheres and dangers associated with these areas
- Use of correct PPE in confined space
- Risk Assessments and Working Permits
- Safe Systems of Work for entry into confined spaces
- Methods of communication
- Use of multi gas monitors
- Human respiratory system
- Disease and personal hygiene associated with confined spaces
- Using and testing of confined space equipment
- Emergency procedures
